Coffee exports up 44.79% in Jan bl-premium-article-image

Coffee exports from the country increased 44.79 per cent in January to 20,957 tonnes, comparedwith 14,474 lakh tonnes during the same period a year ago. Unit value realisation was up 15.57 per cent at Rs 1.41 lakh a tonne, against last year’s realisation of Rs 1.22 lakh a tonne. According to Coffee Board statistics, coffee exports in rupee terms were up 67.23 per cent to Rs 296.95 crore, against Rs 177.56 crore. However, in terms of dollar realisation, it was up 70.89 per cent at $ 65.28 million against $ 38.20 million.

COFFEE GRADES

Exports of arabica parchment constituted 5,780 tonnes (last year’s exports stood at 4,285 tonnes); arabica cherry 1,624 tonnes (1,014 tonnes); robusta parchment 2,180 tonnes (175 tonnes) and robusta cherry 5,457 tonnes (3,667 tonnes) and instant coffee total exports 3,896 (1,148 tonnes).

TOP IMPORTERS

Italy bought 5,280 tonnes (arabica 1,904.2 tonnes, robusta 3,375.8 tonnes), while Germany imported 4,028 tonnes (arabica 3,500.1 tonnes, robusta 528.4 tonnes), Russian Federation 1,238.2 tonnes (arabica 36.6 tonnes, robusta 1,201.6 tonnes), Finland 1,104.9 tonnes (arabica 21.6 tonnes, robusta 1,083.3 tonnes) and Spain 930.4 tonnes (arabica 40 tonnes, robusta 890.4 tonnes
