J. Thomas & Company Pvt Ltd, the country's oldest and premier tea-broking company, has made changes at the board level effective from April 1.

The board strength has been increased to nine from eight earlier. The post of Vice-Chairman has been created, the number of Managing Directors increased and the post of Deputy Managing Director have been abolished.

Mr Kavi Seth, earlier Executive Director, has been inducted into the board as a Director. Mr Vijay Shankar, till recently Managing Director, has been appointed the Vice-Chairman.

The number of Managing Directors has been increased from earlier two to three. Mr Viveck Krishna, the Managing Director, is joined by two more, namely Mr Krishan Katyal and Mr C A Mohan. Both Mr Katyal and Mr Mohan were earlier Deputy Managing Directors.

Mr Ashok Batra, however, continues as Chairman.
