The Kochi Tea auction witnessed a subdued demand from exporters and low arrivals in several varieties this week. However, the market for good liquoring teas was steady to firm and sometimes dearer especially for grainier varieties.
According to the auctioneers, Forbes, Ewart & Figgis, the best varieties witnessed a good demand, while it was fair for others. The market for primary grades was steady while others were lower. A small quantity of orthodox dust sold was absorbed by exporters. In Kochi CTC dust, the best grades quoted ₹100-155, medium fetched ₹70-95 and plain varieties at ₹55-64.
