Bihar govt to give Rs 1,000-cr stipends to students bl-premium-article-image

The Bihar government will distribute stipends worth around Rs 1,000 crore among students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Extremely Backward Class and Backward Class during 2012-13.

The money would be distributed among the 1.25 crore students as pre-matric stipends, the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Sushil Kumar Modi, told reporters here.

The attendance of students from the SC, ST, OBC, EBCs and other weaker sections of the society would be taken into account during distribution of the stipends, he said.
