Sugar rises with demand

Sugar prices at the Vashi wholesale market increased by ₹10-20 a quintal and ruled steady at the mill level. Volume at the mill level also improved as producers continued to sell the sweetener at prevailing rates. Freight rates and inventory remained stable. Arrivals increased to 62-64 truckloads and local dispatches were at 60-62 loads. Bombay Sugar Merchants Association spot rates: S-grade ₹3,186-3,252 and M-grade ₹3,222-3,362. Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,180-3,190 and M-grade ₹3,220-3,245.
