With lower prices prevailing for potatoes and higher domestic supply, the government has removed the minimum export price (MEP) to help domestic farmers realise better prices, an official release said.
The Commerce Ministry had imposed an MEP of $450/tonne on potato last June to check rising prices and augment domestic supplies. “The removal of existing MEP on potato … would also help the exporters in earning valuable foreign exchange for the country through exports,” the statement said.
