About 86 per cent of the offer at Sale No: 12 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold, with the average price dropping to ₹101.65 a kg from last week’s ₹102.75.
Homedale Estate’s Red Dust CTC grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the auctions when GLT Enterprises bought it for ₹270 a kg.
This beat the price of even the export-oriented orthodox teas from corporate sector.
In the CTC Leaf tea auctions, Homedale Estate’s grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹250.
Among orthodox teas, Kairbetta topped at ₹264 a kg followed by Kodanad ₹246, Chamraj ₹236, Havukal ₹210 and Mailoor ₹201.
