Prices drop at Coonoor tea auctions on subdued demand bl-premium-article-image

The mediums and plainer sorts had less demand and sold easier by ₹2 to ₹3 and more at times with a fair amount of teas out listed due to lack of bids.

Subdued activity from internal buyers has resulted in lower sales percentage and price drop in Coonoor Tea auctions.

This is evident in sale no. 6, where the sales percentage was 82.60 out of the offered quantity of 12,48,302 kg. In dust, the offerings were 4,26,778 kg with a sales percentage of 76. Traders said that blenders were supportive at ₹1 or ₹2 at lower levels.

Global Tea Auctioneers said that the high-priced and better liquoring sorts were generally easier by ₹5 to ₹6, occasionally, some quality lots sold dearer by ₹2 to ₹3.

The better medium sorts were barely steady to occasionally dearer by ₹1 to ₹2 in line with quality. The mediums and plainer sorts bolders had less demand and sold easier by ₹2 to ₹3 and more at times with fair withdrawals.

The primary whole leaf grades in leaf orthodox sold dearer by ₹4 to ₹5. The primary brokens were also sold fully firm to dearer by ₹3 to ₹4. The secondaries and fannings were fully firm to dearer by ₹1 to ₹2.

The high-priced and better liquoring sorts were generally lower by ₹4 to ₹5. The better medium sorts were lower by ₹2 to ₹3.

The mediums and plainer sorts had less demand and sold easier by ₹2 to ₹3 and more at times with a fair amount of teas out listed due to lack of bids. Generally a less demand was noticed in the overall CTC dust sale.
