The price of the root variety turmeric increased at Erode markets on Tuesday.
“The price of the finger turmeric was up ₹100 a quintal, but the root variety gained ₹300-400 due to arrival of medium variety turmeric. Of the 3,000 bags of turmeric, 1,900 bags were sold,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹4,715-7,498 a quintal; the root variety ₹4,506-6,989. Of the arrival of 746 bags, 210 were sold.
At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric traded at ₹6,156-7,319 and the root variety ₹6,069-6,837. Of the 464 bags offered, 427 were sold.
