The first 660 MW unit of the Mahatma Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar was successfully synchronised with the grid on Wednesday.

Announcing the development, Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) Managing Director, Mr Anurag Agarwal, said this was the first 660 MW unit based on the latest state-of-the-art supercritical technology to be commissioned in Haryana.

The foundation stone of the project, which was developed by CLP Power India, was laid on January 10, 2009, and the first unit has been synchronised exactly 36 months later.
