Karnataka expects Rs 35,000 cr investment in tourism sector

The Karnataka government expects investment of over Rs 35,000 crore in the tourism sector through the Global Investors' Meet 2012.

Addressing a session on tourism, Ms Latha Krishna Rao, Principal Secretary - Tourism, said on Friday that there was a lot of investor interest in destinations such as Hampi and Pattadakkal, which are World Heritage Centres.

The State government signed EoIs and MoUs worth Rs 2,487 crore for the tourism sector on the concluding day of GIM.

The State tourism department recently invited request for proposals for 18 destinations in the State for development of tourism infrastructure such as resorts, five-star hotels, theme parks, wayside amenities, adventure sports, etc.
