Freight rates slump on excess number of trucks

Freight rates for ten metric tonne load for select destinations declined by Rs.1000 in the local truck transport market on Saturday following large position of trucks amid reduced arrivals of cargo.

Transporters said heavy availability of trucks against cargo movements, mainly pulled down some of centres freight rates.

Delhi to Hyderabad and Kolkata rates went down by Rs.1000 each to Rs.43,000 and Rs.27,000.

Rates to Pondicherry and Chennai too slipped by Rs.1000 each to Rs.65,000 and Rs.58,000.

Pune and Vijaywada rates also eased by Rs.1000 each to Rs.26,000 and Rs.46,000.
