International shipping giant DHL Express has expanded its operations at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, with an additional 17,900 sq. ft.. This expansion scales its total operational area at the airport to 130,000 sq. ft. The company has invested approximately ₹35 crore in the expansion, which includes a new purpose-built service center at the AISATS Bengaluru Logistics Park.
“Around 31 per cent of our country’s total volume flows through Bengaluru,” said R.S. Subramanian, SVP South Asia, DHL Express. “The Bangalore gateway processes shipments not just for the city, but also for a wider South India region, including Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Mysuru, Kochi, and large parts of Chennai. This is made possible by our dedicated freighter connectivity through Bengaluru Airport.”
Subramanian described Bengaluru as the company’s ‘South catchment hub’, processing shipments for almost the entire southern region. The integration of the new service center is expected to significantly improve shipment processing times and enhance throughput capacity, enabling the company to efficiently handle current and future volume growth.
“We have four service centres across Bengaluru, in areas like Electronic City, HSR, Yeshwanthpur, and near the airport,” he added. “As the city expands and manufacturing shifts to the outskirts, our infrastructure is evolving in tandem to ensure last-mile connectivity and network efficiency.”
DHL Express has observed strong growth trends in South India, driven by increasing trade and the expanding manufacturing ecosystem. “We’ve seen double-digit growth in South India, and we believe this momentum will continue,” Subramanian said.

India is projected to contribute a substantial 6 per cent to global trade growth over the next five years, according to DHL Trade Atlas 2025. The company’s investment in the country’s emergence is part of its India’s rise as a key multi-shoring destination, coupled with its robust and growing export sector.
