The Wadia Group promoted low-cost airline GoAir has signed a $7.2-billion agreement with Pratt & Whitney to supply engines for the 72 Airbus A-320 NEO aircraft it recently ordered.

The airline will pick up 144 PW 100G-JM engines. The agreement is also expected to include a PureSolution maintenance package, the airline said in a statement. This package, which is expected to be firmed up soon, would see Pratt & Whitney undertake the maintenance of the engines being supplied to the airline, officials said.

Delivery of the engines is scheduled to start in 2016.

The airline Managing Director, Mr Jeh Wadia, said the engine was selected because the airline was confident that “its performance advantage will deliver significant savings in operating costs as well as considerable reductions in emissions and noise.”

The Mumbai-headquartered airline took to the skies in November 2005.
