“Both the State government and the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, K Rammohan Naidu are keen on grounding the new airport project as early as possible to give international connectivity to the new capital city at Amaravati. The surveys are now in progress,’‘ a senior official told businessline

A report on the feasibility and modalities of the proposed airport by Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) will also be submitted to the government shortly.

The state government has already commenced the process for the second phase of land-pooling in the Amaravati capital region. According to Municipal Administration Minister Narayana, about 4,000-5,000 acres of land could be allotted to the proposed airport, which is essential for attracting the foreign investors and spurring economic growth in the region.
