The low-cost carrier IndiGo will operate daily non-stop flights from Mangaluru to Bengaluru and Mumbai with effect from May 1.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Wednesday, Sanjay Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer of IndiGo, said it will operate two daily flights from Mangaluru to Bengaluru, and one daily flight to Mumbai. Plans are there to operate a third daily flight to Bengaluru in the months to come, he said.

To a query about connecting other cities with Mangaluru, he said that the airline is planning to connect Mangaluru with Hyderabad and Delhi in the next two-three months.

Stating that IndiGo is bullish about the Mangaluru market, he said it is the second busiest airport of Karnataka, and is gaining prominence as a business hub and tourist gateway.
