Movva Tirumala Krishna Babu, incumbent Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Port Trust, has taken over additional charge of the Kolkata Port Trust.
A 1993 batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, Babu has previously been the Chairman of the Paradip Port Trust.
A B.Tech. from JNTU College of Engineering, Kakinada, East Godavari district, he has also been nominated for Prime Minister Awards for Excellence in Administration for taking up decentralised procurement of foodgrains in villages and for taking the help of self-help groups to help the farmers get minimum support price during his tenure as the Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh Markfed.
