Products to be delivered directly to Airbus facilities in Europe

Aviation major Airbus has awarded a hard metal components contract to Mahindra Aerostructures to manufacture and supply components like aerospace steel, titanium and Inconel, which is a nickel-chromium based super-alloy, for the A320neo, a narrow-body airliner and the A350XWB, a twin engine wide-body jet airliner.

Products are to be delivered directly to Airbus facilities in Europe from India and France, in a deal that will provide Airbus a mix of cost structure and logistics flexibility, the companies said in a joint statement.

In its first direct work package from Airbus, Mahindra Aerostructures is to execute the work together with its sub-tier, Segnere SAS based in France.

This February, Mahindra Aerostructures had teamed up with French company Segnere, which is a tier-1 supplier to Airbus, to collaborate on airframe manufacturing opportunities.
