Eight months after Ola launched operations in London, its licence was revoked by the transport authority for London (TfL) late Sunday evening, for not adhering to safety standards.
Ola entered the UK market in March 2018 and rapidly expanded operations. As of February 2020, cities including Birmingham, Coventry and Warwick had seen more than double-digit growth in rides.
The company attributed TfL’s decision to revoke its licence primarily to technical operational issues that it is in the process of sorting out.
Ola said it will appeal against the decision and, in the meanwhile, will continue to operate normally in London. It has 21 days to file an appeal.
