Road Safety Week in Mangaluru

Violators of traffic rules should be made to attend ‘corrective classes’ in addition to paying a fine for violation, according to AB Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 26th Road Safety Week celebrations in Mangaluru on Thursday, he said the Dakshina Kannada Regional Transport Authority (RTA) is considering such a move. Ibrahim is also Chairman of RTA.

The violators should be educated on the road safety in corrective classes, he said.

SR Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, said children should take up issues such as road safety as campaign topics.Mangaluru Commissioner of Police S Murugan said that to make road safety effective, it is essential for citizens to think of it as a way of life.
