Stir over AP bifurcation: Truck movement on highways hit

Our Bureau Updated - March 12, 2018 at 08:49 PM.

Trucks moving between Tamil Nadu and eastern states of West-Bengal, Odisha, Assam that have to cross Andhra Pradesh are hit due to ongoing disturbance in Andhra Pradesh.

Trucks are delayed, but the exact impact is not yet clear. Also, many truckers are hesitating to enter the State for fear of their cargo getting affected.

“Highways are blocked. There is lack of clarity on the exact situation on road blocks, so truckers are now waiting and watching. This is resulting in delays,” said SP Singh, Senior Fellow, Indian Foundation of Transport Research and Training.

Andhra Pradesh is seeing widespread protests against the Union Government decision to bifurcate the State.
