Two Air India Group flights encountered technical issues on Monday, forcing them to return to their departure destinations.
In the first incident, an Air India Express Boeing 737-8 aircraft operating a flight from Delhi to Ranchi returned to Delhi shortly after takeoff.
The pilot noticed a suspected technical issue and decided to turn back around 4:25 pm.
After inspections and clearance, the aircraft resumed scheduled operations.
“One of our flights returned to Delhi after take off due to a suspected technical issue. Post inspections and clearance, the aircraft continued scheduled operations. We regret the inconvenience,” said an Air India Express Spokesperson.
In a separate incident, an Air India Boeing 787 aircraft operating flight AI 315 from Hong Kong to Delhi returned to Hong Kong due to a technical issue.
The aircraft landed safely at Hong Kong International Airport at 1:17 pm.
The Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong handled the situation according to established procedures and requested Air India to submit a report.
The aircraft, which had been inspected before the flight, was deemed safe, but the pilot opted to return to Hong Kong as a precautionary measure.
Air India is providing alternative arrangements to fly passengers to Delhi at the earliest and offering necessary assistance to minimise inconvenience.
