Last year over 2 million Indians had travelled to Thailand lured by easy visas, increased connectivity and budget friendly options.

“As of mid-June 2025, over one million Indian visitors have travelled to Thailand, reflecting a steady increase in outbound travel from India and strong two-way tourism ties. The achievement comes after a record-setting 2024, which saw Thailand welcome more than 35 million international tourists, with India contributing a significant share of 2.1 million arrivals,” TAT said in a release on Monday.

India is the third largest source market for Thailand tourism after China and Malaysia.

“TAT has also observed a rise in demand from emerging Indian markets. Notably, cities like Surat, Rajkot, Nagpur, and Nashik are emerging as promising markets for luxury travel, with a visible uptick in premium bookings, wellness holidays, and bespoke experiences,” it added.

Last year India and Thailand revised the air service agreement enabling carriers from both the countries to increase frequencies. Flights between India and Thailand have increased by 20 per cent on a year on year basis with Air India, IndiGo and Thai Lion Air increasing their flights.
