Bengal to hire primary teachers

The West Bengal government will recruit 46,000 teachers for primary schools across the State, the Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, said on June 8 following a Cabinet meeting.

Around 10 per cent of the recruitments will be made from part-time teachers, para-teachers and those appointed on a contractual basis.

“All appointments will be made after the approval of the finance department,” Ms Banerjee said at the State Secretariat.

The Cabinet has also decided to form the West Bengal Health Services Board so that doctors and other staff at different State-run hospitals are employed directly instead of through the Public Service Commission.
