The West Bengal has done ‘superbly' in implementing the Integrated Action Plan in Left-wing extremism-hit West Midnapore district, the Planning Commission member-secretary, Ms Sudha Pillai, said today.

“West Bengal has done superbly. We are satisfied with the plan being submitted (in West Midnapore),” Ms Pillai said after a meeting with district magistrates, superintendents of police and district forest officers of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purlia, besides other officials, at the State Secretariat here.

Pointing out that Rs 45 crore had been sanctioned for West Midnapore under the IAP, she said 65.2 per cent of the amount had already been spent.

Ms Pillai said that Rs 8,771 crore has been sanctioned for 11 economically backward districts of West Bengal.
