The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved Mr R. Gopalan, a 1976 batch IAS officer from Tamil Nadu, as Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs in the Finance Ministry.
He will assume charge in the new role from February 1.
Mr Gopalan is currently Secretary, Department of Financial Services.
