Announcing plans to set up a textile park for the welfare of the weaver community in the State, the Uttar Pradesh Congress chief, Ms Rita Bahuguna Joshi, today welcomed the Centre's Rs 3,000-crore assistance for the community and said more such schemes will be introduced in the future.
A textile park, where subsidised yarn will be made available, will soon be set up for the community. A delegation comprising members of weaver community from Uttar Pradesh and the National Commission of Backward Classes (NCBC) had met the Union Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, and the Commerce Minister, Mr Anand Sharma, yesterday.
