Minister of State (Independent Charge) R K Singh took charge of the Ministry of Power, and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Singh took over from the now Cabinet Minister for Railways, Piyush Goyal.
Goyal said that the International Solar Alliance will be a priority for the new minister. The ISA will be launched on December 9 from Noida, Uttar Pradesh this year.
Singh said that the country is now energy surplus and that the vision of the ministries has been defined by his predecessor.
