1) The central bank's bi-monthly Monetary Policy Committee meeting gets underway on Monday. Surging fuel prices are likely to weigh on the rate setting panel at its three-day meet. This is the first time that the MPC will meet for three days due to "administrative exigencies". In the normal course, it meets every two months for two days before making public its monetary policy stance.

2) The last date for submission of the Expression of Interest for a resolution plan for IVRCL has been extended to June 4. Sutanu Sinha, Insolvency Resolution Professional appointed by the National Company Law Tribunal, said the deadline had been extended to facilitate potential resolution applicants to submit their plans for resolution of the Hyderabad-based infrastructure company.

3) Apple’s Worldwide Developers' Conference 2018 keynote will take place on Monday. The keynote will be held at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. The event is expected to see the debut of new versions of iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Over the years, the company has sometimes unveiled new hardware products as well at the event.

4) The DMK has decided to participate in the Tamil Nadu Assembly session from June 4, taking into consideration “the request of alliance party leaders and the expectations of the people.” A resolution to this effect was adopted during a meeting of district secretaries and MLAs of the party. “Though the AIADMK government had failed to respect democratic norms and was not in favour of constructive debates, the DMK, which had great faith in democracy and exchange of ideas, would participate in the Assembly proceedings,” the resolution read.

5) The Puducherry Legislative Assembly is to re-assemble on June 4 to present the annual budget for this financial year. The House had passed a vote-on-account for Rs 2,466.66 crore during its one-day session on March 26. Subsequently, the State Planning Board, which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on April 27, recommended an annual plan outlay of Rs 7,530 crore this financial year, which was an increase of Rs 585 crore over that of last fiscal.
