The Indian IT and IT-enabled services industry is no longer a cost arbitrage story. “There is a clear story beyond cost arbitrage. The industry has made significant commitments to the innovation economy of the US by setting up dedicated centres,” B. V. R. Mohan Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Infotech Enterprises, has said.

Interacting with a US delegation led by the Governor of the State of Washington Christine Gregoire here on Wednesday, he said high-end solutions from Indian companies are helping US citizens by reducing cost of public services, improving healthcare systems and introducing new, affordable products for daily use. Quoting a Nasscom report, he added that Indian companies have added 2.80 lakh jobs in the US, contributed over $15 billion in taxes in the last five years and invested over $5 billion through 128 acquisitions.

The Governor was briefed on several complex and safety-critical projects being executed by Infotech team for customers in the US and particularly Washington. Gregoire is on a 10-day trade mission to India and South Korea where she will meet with government officials and business leaders.
