The Supreme Court will on Thursday pronounce its order on a plea by the Janata Party President, Dr Subramanian Swamy, asking for its direction for initiating an investigation into the alleged role of the Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, in the 2G spectrum case. The apex court will also give its verdict on the plea of NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation seeking cancellation of 122 new licences (bundled with spectrum) granted to telecom firms in 2008 during the tenure of the then Telecom Minister, Mr A. Raja (when Mr Chidambaram was Finance Minister) as well as for setting up a Special Investigation Team to monitor the CBI's probe in the 2G case.

A Bench comprising Mr Justice A.K. Ganguly and Mr Justice G.S. Singhvi had heard these matters, but Mr Justice Singhvi will pronounce the orders. Incidentally, Mr Justice Ganguly is retiring on Thursday and will be part of another Bench headed by the Chief Justice, Mr Justice S.H. Kapadia.

The apex court had reserved its order on March 17 in the 2G licence cancellation case, and on October 10 in the other two matters.
