Tech Mahindra has busted a fake jobs racket. The racket involved issuance of bogus job offer letters to more than 50 laterals hires and freshers at the software solutions company’s various locations.
A group was collecting cash ranging between Rs 9,000 and Rs 2 lakh from job aspirants, Tech Mahindra said in a statement.
“Tech Mahindra does not charge any fee or collect any deposit from candidates for any jobs and our hiring is purely based on principles of meritocracy and relevance.
“I urge all candidates who are approached by third parties demanding cash payments for jobs at Tech Mahindra to immediately report the matter to us or to law enforcement authorities,” Rakesh Soni, Chief People Officer, Tech Mahindra, said in a statement.
While the company did not provide the number of offer letters issued by the fake jobs racket, sources said, over 50 laterals and freshers were targeted by the group. The Mumbai-based company had registered a police complaint in Delhi but no arrests were made yet.
The modus operandi of the racketeers is to issue bogus offer letters via email originating from a public or free domain and not from the techmahindra.com; the contact person asks for funds to be deposited in any form; the interviewing panel does not have a Tech Mahindra ID card.
Separately, the Mahindra group company has enhanced its European team as it gears up to clock a turnover of $5 billion by 2015.
The company has appointed Rajesh Chandiramani as Head–Enterprise Business, Continental Europe, while Michael Jonesen as Head–Enterprise Sales for Denmark. Jonas Bränning joined as Country Manager for Sweden and Fabrice Haccoun as the new country head for France. Tech Mahindra derives 32 per cent of its total revenues from Europe.
