Telangana is set to become the country’s data centre hub with Amazon, Tillman Global Holdings and Blackstone announcing aggregate investments of ₹80,000 crore on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland, to build data centres in the State.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has agreed to invest ₹60,000 crore to set up data centre infrastructure in Telangana. The decision came after CM Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu held negotiations with the top leadership of Amazon, led by its Vice-President (Global Public Policy) Michael Punke at Davos.
“AWS will be expanding its data centres in Hyderabad in a big way with plans for fresh investment of around ₹60,000 crore. With this, AWS Region in Hyderabad will play an important role in supporting AWS’ growth of cloud services in India, including AI in the future,” said a CMO executive.
AWS had earlier announced to invest over ₹35,000 crore (about $4.4 billion) by 2030 to develop its cloud infrastructure in Telangana. AWS has so far developed three sites in the State at an outlay of over ₹8,000 crore. These three centres are already operational.
“AWS has requested the State government for an additional parcel of land for their expansion plans. The government has agreed to facilitate it,” he said.
Tillman to invest ₹15,000 cr
Meanwhile, the US-based Tillman Global Holdings has announced an investment of ₹15,000 crore to set up a data centre with a capacity of 300 MW in Hyderabad. The company has signed an agreement in this regard.
Sachit Ahuja, President of Tillman Global Holdings, held discussions with the CM and IT Minister on the sidelines of the WEF conference on Thursday.
“The proposed data centres will cater to hyperscale clients and support AI-driven applications, cloud services, and large-scale data processing. The facility will incorporate energy-efficient systems, advanced cooling technologies and robust cybersecurity measures, fostering innovation in Telangana’s digital ecosystem,” he said.
In a related development, investment firm Blackstone has entered into an agreement with the State Government to set up a 150-MW capacity data centre in Hyderabad with an investment of ₹4,500 crore.
Blackstone Lumina, Blackstone’s data centre arm, along with JCK Infra, signed the agreement with the government at Davos. The two firms will collaborate with leading cloud infrastructure providers to build the data centre.
