Technology and business are becoming one and the pressure on companies to innovate and achieve velocity would only intensify, according to CA Technologies Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Otto Berkes.

“In fact, the new IT will be no IT. I don’t mean that IT will go away. It’s actually the opposite,” Berkes said in the day two keynote address at the CA World 2016.

“Now, the beauty of this is that nobody else can do what you can do. That gives you an edge you’ve never had before,” he added.

Stating that analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are going to change everything in the world, he said before that “they are going to change your business”.

These shifts mean that companies have to rethink everything they do.

The overarching goal of a business today is to better understand its customers through the software they build.

“Until recently, software was used to support business. Today, it is also used to drive business and create differentiation,” he added.

The explosion of internet-connected devices demands an entirely different take on software as software needs to create a “live, direct connection with customers through digital channels”.

CA Technologies is looking at using data to drive better decision-making and more focus on the things that matter to its customers, he said.

“We want to be sure that we’re building the tools and developing the approaches that you need to succeed in this new software-driven world,” he added.
