Cloud-based call management solutions provider MyOperator is targeting small businesses, both in India and overseas, for growth.

Launched in March 2013, the start-up bagged the project of running the back-end operations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio talk show, Mann ki Baat , for nearly six months. The operations were carried out through a toll-free virtual phone number.

Right now, over 3,000 businesses in India use MyOperator solutions that include IVR, virtual number, toll-free number, cloud EPABX, automatic call distribution, call tracking, recording and reports for businesses.

According to Ankit Jain, founder and CEO, MyOperator is eyeing a 20-40 times growth in adoption.

Its current clients include political parties and e-tailers. While 10 per cent of its total clientèle comprises large enterprises, smaller ones account for the remaining chunk.

Delhi-based MyOperator claims to offer a more cost-effective option than its larger rivals, with charges varying between ₹18,000 and ₹36,000 a year. Larger service providers offering similar voice management services are said to charge ₹1 lakh annually.

MyOperator follows both the SaaS (software as a service) and PaaS (platform as a service) revenue models, where customers have to pay on a yearly basis for using the service. It has a revenue run rate of ₹20 crore per annum, and is EBITDA positive.

“In terms of business, we see a 20-40 times growth in new business adoptions. This growth will primarily be driven by smaller businesses whose needs are far more than e-mail services,” Jain told BusinessLine .

The start-up is now targeting a greater pie of the US market, and will look at the UK market as well. At present, 30-odd businesses in the US are using its cloud telephony services.

Apart from cost, it is the ease in set-up that has seen the company grow, according to Jain. “Our call management system can be set up in 15 minutes, without going into any configuration,” said.

With about two million SMEs, industry players estimate the domestic market size to be around $6 billion.

Apart from direct and online sales, MyOperator has about 30 active resellers of its cloud telephony services.

The company remains a boot-strapped start-up. It has neither raised any funds, nor plans to do so in the immediate future.
