Outsourcer Firstsource Solutions has posted a 74.2 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 40.2 crore in fourth quarter ended March 31, 2013. The Mumbai-based company had posted a net profit of Rs 23.1 crore during the same period the previous financial year.

Revenues rose 14.6 per cent to Rs 712.5 crore (Rs 621.8 crore) and operating EBIT 97.7 per cent to Rs 61.3 crore (Rs 31 crore).

“The last fiscal saw many developments. The significant was the repayment of Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds in full and induction of the RP-SG Group as the promoter in the company,” Firstsource Solutions CMD Rajesh Subramaniam said.

However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, the company’s net profit fell 3 per cent from Rs 41.5 crore posted during the quarter ended December 2012.

During the quarter, the business process management company closed down two of its call centres in India, which it said did not result in any job losses. As of March 31, Firstsource had 47 centres.

The company closed down a call centre in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, and moved the entire staff to a nearby location at Airoli, while the same happened to a Kolkata call centre, a spokesperson said. “These were consolidating or optimising of call centre operations at one location. There were absolutely no job losses. The call centres used to handle business of two telecom clients,” the spokesperson said, declining to name the operators.
