Government is planning to roll out a couple of e-governance schemes by March including an e-literacy pilot project in 100 locations and electronic delivery of all citizen services in 50 districts.
In a recent review meeting held by IT Minister Kapil Sibal and Minister of State for IT Kruparani Killi, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology presented the agenda for the next three months.
The three-month agenda included launch of e-literacy pilot project to make three lakh persons e-literate in two years through IGNOU study centres.
“In this regard, the Department should consult Human Resource Development Ministry and dovetail the e-literacy initiative with the Adult Literacy Mission,” the presentation said.
Under National Policy on Information Technology 2012, the government has set target to make at least one person in every family e-literate by 2020.
In the presentation, the Department officials said, “It was decided that, e-districts project will be launched in a minimum of 50 districts by March 2013 in various states.”
Under e-district project, citizen will be able to apply or renew their arms licences and other works that are provided from district collectorate through Internet.
The Department officials said that by March 2013 it will launch an online store which will have at least 10 applications that people can access to avail government service online or through their mobile phones.
Within a stipulated time-frame, the Department will launch three software applications like cooperative core banking solutions, mobile-fertilizer monitoring system (mFMS) on cloud computing platform.
The host of schemes to be rolled out by March include solar power back-up for 1000 common service centres that are located in rural area for providing government services that can be availed online.
