Infosys has committed to hiring 10,000 American workers over the next two years.

Infosys will hire 500 American workers in the state of Rhode Island and set up a design and innovation hub.

This hiring will be over the next five years, Infosys said in a statement. This development comes in the backdrop of Infosys committing to hire 10,000 American workers over the next two years, an announcement which the software major made earlier this year.

The state’s educational institutions, design-rich environment, and economic development tools, positioned Rhode Island competitively for this type of specialist partnership,” said Ravi Kumar, President, Infosys.Further, Infosys has invested in similar centres in Indianapolis, Indiana and Raleigh, North Carolina.

Indian software services companies are increasingly setting up centres in the US after tighter curbs were placed by government authorities around granting of H1-B visas.
