The Karnataka government has cleared Intel Technology India’s Rs 1,100-crore proposal to set up ‘Computer Software Development/R&D/Hardware Design services’ facility in Bengaluru.
The company's proposal was cleared by The State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) chaired by the Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, on Monday night.
Intel’s project site is to come up at Devarabeesanahalli Outer Ring Road, Varthur Hobli, Bangalore South Taluk in Bangalore district.
The company is planning to construct a new building in eight acres of KIADB allotted land. Currently, it is engaged in research, development, hardware design, testing/validation of computer hardware and software products for the next generation of information technology ecosystem.
Intel is operating under 100 per cent export oriented unit (EOU) scheme registered with STPI. It has made significant investment in Karnataka in building the R&D labs.
The company so far has made a total investment of over $3 billion till date and has directly employed over 7,000 engineers.
The SHLCC also cleared three other IT projects namely - Velankani Electronics with an investment of Rs 1,130 crore and an employment potential 2,400 people; Saltire Developers with an investment of Rs 463 crore and an employment potential of 25,000, and Amin Properties, Rs 264 crore investment with an employment potential for 8,000 people. In all, the panel cleared investment proposals worth Rs 2,957.25 crore.
The meeting was attended by Karnataka IT Minister S R Patil; Industry Minister R V Deshpande; Infrastructure Minister Roshan Baig; Agriculture Minister Krishna Bharegowda, Chief Secretary Arvind Jadav; additional chief secretary Ratna Prabha; ITBT Principal Secretary V Manjula; Industrial Commissioner Guarav Gupta; ITBT Director Tanusree Deb Barma and other senior officials.
