L&T Technology Services (LTTS), a global engineering and technology services firm, has launched a new Engineering Design Center in Plano, Texas, backed by an initial investment of $2 million. The facility will initially accommodate 100 engineers, with plans to generate over 350 high-skilled jobs in core sectors such as Mobility and Technology.

As an International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)-compliant facility, the center is equipped to design, develop, and test defense-related products and systems. The new design hub will also focus on advanced cybersecurity solutions, including a Security Operations Center (SoC), an enabler for Smart City technologies.

Half of the center’s space will be dedicated to defense-related work. In addition, the facility will focus on areas such as digital manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and sustainability, along with advancements in medical technologies and transportation—particularly in the trucking and off-highway vehicle segments.

Alind Saxena, President & Executive Director - Mobility & Tech, L&T Technology Services, told businessline, “The US is key for us. 55% of our revenue comes from North American-based clients. Many global companies are also moving their headquarters to places like Dallas and other adjoining areas from different locations. And when that happens, the talent moves, and an ecosystem is built.”

Saxena added that the state of Texas offered LTTS various incentives, including access to government support structures and a strong talent ecosystem. He also highlighted Texas’s efforts to build a robust startup ecosystem.

“A company like us needs access to favorable policies to set up such centres. Texas, because of its education ecosystem, gives us access to good talent,” Saxena said.

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz also commended LTTS on the launch of the engineering design center saying, “LTTS has been an example of engineering innovation and a provider of jobs here in Texas. This new center is a testament to your unwavering commitment to excellence, ingenuity, and the future of the Lone Star State. I am thrilled to see that L&T Technology Services’ new center will create quality jobs and provide employment to as many as 400 engineers. When companies like L&T Technology Services thrive, it sends a powerful message, Texas is open for business, and we are ready to lead in the industries of tomorrow”.

LTTS has set up similar engineering centers in proximity to key customers, with existing facilities across the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Australia. The company has around 2,500 employees across multiple locations across North America.
