Bengaluru-based semiconductor manufacturing company Signalchip on Wednesday launched “India’s first indigenous” semiconductor chips here, which could be used in 4G/LTE and 5G NR Modem applications.
The company unveiled four chips designed by it — SCBM3412, which is a single chip 4G/LTE modem with the baseband and transceiver sections in a single device; SCBM3404, a single chip 4x4 LTE baseband modem; SCRF3402, a 2x2 transceiver for LTE -- and SCRF4502, a 2x2 transceiver for 5G NR standards. Speaking at the launch, Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan said that the launch of the chips was significant and that India is entering an elite club and this will have huge implications on the country’s data security and sovereignty.
While she acknowledged that US and China are battling it out for the upperhand in ICT technology, India cannot afford to lag behind.
