Canvas Blaze includes one slot supporting MTS’ CDMA network.

Mobile handsets manufacturer Micromax on Wednesday said it has partnered with Sistema Shyam TeleServices (known for its MTS brand) to launch Canvas Blaze – a dual SIM smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

The smartphone is priced at RS 10,999 and bundled services include 2GB data,1,000 minutes for MTS to MTS local calling, 120 minutes for other local and STD calls and are applicable for six months from the date of purchase, the company said.

However, the benefits will be available through the MTS SIM only (which comes along with the handset) in the first SIM slot and customers can use their existing SIM in the second slot of the dual SIM phone, Micromax said.

It said the Canvas Blaze has been exclusively designed by Micromax for the young, tech-savvy Internet generation. The new smartphone has a five-inch full touch display and runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).

“At Micromax, it is our constant endeavour to democratise technologies for the masses through our innovative and affordable offerings. Our new offering based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will help GSM consumers take advantage of the superior 3G EVDO network of MTS while retaining their GSM number,” Vikas Jain, co-founder, Micromax, said.

Under this new partnership, Micromax and MTS will introduce a range of co-developed smartphones that will deliver better, enhanced data experience for customers across the country, he said.
