Redington India will sell the latest iPhone across 3,000 retail outlets, while Beetel Teletech will offer the device through its 3,500 retail outlets.

The new iPhone SE is seen on display during an event at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Apple has launched the iPhone SE in the US, the latest in the series of the iconic handsets, which is being unveiled with the latest processor, fingerprint scanner and Apple Pay. The device is priced at $399, which lower than the $649 price of iPhone 6S.

iPhone SE will be available in early April, with the device priced at about ₹39,000.

The iPhone SE is the most powerful phone with a four-inch display and comes with a 64-bit A9 chip (as in iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus) and a 12 MP camera featuring Live Photos.

“iPhone SE is an exciting new idea — we started with a beloved, iconic design and reinvented it from the inside out. The result is the most beautiful and powerful phone with a four-inch display in the world,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

iPhone SE will be available in space gray, silver, gold and rose gold metallic finishes in 16GB and 64GB models starting at $399. Customers in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the US will be able to order iPhone SE beginning Thursday, March 24, with availability beginning March 31.

In India, Redington India will sell iPhone SE from April 8 across 3,000 retail outlets, while Beetel Teletech will offer the device on the same through its 3,500 retail outlets.

“iPhone SE will help Apple broaden Apple’s market segment. Users will be able to buy a phone with latest features which is very different from buying an older version at lower price. I think this will appeal more people to buy an Apple phone who otherwise couldn’t afford their flagship phone. This will make market more competitive at that price point as Apple is preparing to take more share,” said Anshul Gupta, Research Director at Gartner.
