Targeting a turnover of Rs 1,500 crore by March 2016, Maxx Moblink Pvt Ltd, manufacturer and marketer of mobile phones and accessories, on Tuesday said it will increase the number of company-owned and operated smartcare centres from the existing 15 to 100 by March 2016.

The Mumbai-based firm, which currently has a 0.5 per cent market-share in India, hopes to increase it to 3 per cent in 2015-16 and 12 per cent in the next three years, said Ajjay R Agrawal, Chairman and Managing Director, after inaugurating a smartcare centre in Ahmedabad. The company, which offers a range of 40 smartphones and feature phones, markets its products in the price range of Rs 2,500 to Rs 7,000.

He said with the expected increase in import duty from the existing 4.55 per cent on foreign-made mobile phones in the coming Budget, the India-assembled phones are likely to benefit in terms of increased sales. Maxx is already the largest accessory-maker in India.

In 2014-15, the company’s expected turnover would be Rs 660 crore.

He said Maxx is the first mobile phone brand in India to launch company-owned and operated service centres for smartphones, while other brands go for the franchisee-model for customer service. The company is also scheduled to resume production at its Hardwar plant, having a capacity to manufacture one lakh pieces daily. Maxx has invested Rs 500 crore on this plant since 2006.
