Android Oreo 8.0 has been around for a while now and is slowly finding its way to phones apart from Google's flagship Pixels and the Nexus 6P and 5X. One of the earliest phones to get it is the Xiaomi Mi A1, a budget phone from Xiaomi that is part of the Android One programme, with a stock Android interface and fast updates.

This apart, it is a known fact that other Android phones take a while to get new OS updates because companies top the interface with their own skin. However, OnePlus phones, that are known for their near-stock Android feel, generally get the latest OS faster than a lot of others.

No wonder then that users were left a little disappointed when the latest 5T, the mid-cycle upgrade to the OnePlus 5, shipped with Android Nougat. The silver lining being that OnePlus promised a fast upgrade to Oreo.

The company seems to have lived up to it, with Android 8.0 arriving on the older models like the 3, 3T, and the 5. Now, 5T users can also get the latest from Android, albeit in the form of a Beta version. Users can join the Open Beta programme and receive the update. However, those doing so should bear in mind that Beta software may not be completely glitch-free and backing your data up is a good idea. Also, reverting from a beta programme needs a complete wipe.

Android Oreo brings updates such as picture-in-picture, by which you can view two apps simultaneously, password auto-fill, and enhanced power-saving.
