Surveillance cameras will soon become intelligent. They will be able to count the number of plates used in a banquet hall (often there is a dispute on the plates served) and even read the number plate of a car speeding at 120 kmph with the help of software, said Arvind Bali, CEO, Videocon Telecom Ltd, which recently launched closed-circuit television cameras under the brand name WallCam.
“We will work with developers to create software and sophisticated technology,” he told newspersons.
Today, surveillance cameras are used capture scenes of accidents and burglary.
However, intelligent cameras will use sensors, take pictures of speeding vehicles in a highway, including the number plate and the driver, and help prevent untoward incidents, he said.
Bali said the company works with system integrators in providing surveillance security systems to clients. The company has implemented such systems for hotels, car dealers, insurance companies and police departments.
At present, the company has a presence in 14 States. In December the company will expand its operations in Mumbai and Delhi, and next year in the southern markets, he said.
“We launched WallCam products in July, and have been slowly expanding operations. We will have our second phase of major expansion in April.,” he said.
