Samsung India expects yet another ‘record’ year in revenue from mobile sales in 2017-18 riding high on four new range of mobiles with features like chat over video and artificial intelligence in Samsung Mall built mainly for millennials.

In 2016-17, Samsung India’s mobile phone business reported a 27 per cent increase in revenue to over ₹34,000 crore ($5.3 billion). “We will report another record in 2017-18,” according to Aditya Babbar, General Manager, Samsung India, who was in Chennai to launch the new range of smart phones - Galaxy J6, J8, A6 and A6+.

“It will not be a flat year,” he said without giving any indicative growth number.

Babbar said with the launch of new range of mobile phones, Samsung would be able to consolidate its leadership position in smart phone, and hopes to add another 5 per cent market share - from the present 55 per cent per cent.
