Online marketplace Snapdeal on Wednesday launched its exclusive automobile platform, Snapdeal Motors.

The new platform is projected to offer customers an integrated buying experience, enabling online booking along with loan approvals within two minutes of vehicle purchase. The company said it expects Snapdeal Motors to clock over $2 billion in sales over two years.

Customers will be able to browse through a variety of automobile options/variants, avail test drives, book online, choose from easy financing options and documentation support, it said.

To begin with, Snapdeal will be selling two-wheelers from Hero MotoCorp and Piaggio. This will be followed by Mahindra & Mahindra, Suzuki Motorcycles and Datsun.

“We have witnessed growth with over three lakh bikes sold on our site since the launch of our successful partnership with Hero MotoCorp and others,” said Tony Navin, Senior Vice-President, Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives, Snapdeal.

Snapdeal had started selling automobiles on its website in January, with companies like Hero MotoCorp and Hero Electric. It also started taking pre-bookings for Mahindra Scorpio recently.

Following “successful” response from customers, it decided to start a full-fledged automobile platform offering various schemes, the company said.

It plans to approach other automakers to sell on this platform, Navin said.

The platform, developed in house, facilitates easy catalogue exploration across listed brands, he said. Customers can select models and also choose dealers.

The purchased cars, however, will not be door-delivered, since they have to be registered first.
