Hike messaging app’s 3-day hackfest to kick off on Friday

Indian free messaging application, hike messenger, has announced its first three-day online hackfest, The HikeAthon, enabling software developers to win up to Rs 10 lakh in cash and goodies.

The HikeAthon 2014, a free online event, will also give budding talent across the country a chance to put their mobile app development skills to the test, the company said in a statement.

“We have seen firsthand how well design and technology can come together to help create a simple, elegant product for a market as large and diverse as India. With ‘The HikeAthon’, we want to reach out to the exciting new crop of Indian software developers who share our passion for crafting simple and beautiful mobile user experiences,” Kavin Bharti Mittal, Founder and CEO at hike messenger.

“This is a platform for developers in India to express their creativity and solve real user problems on the way,” he added.

The top cash prize is of Rs 500,000 and participants have a chance to win iPads and spend a day with the hike team.

Participation in the event is free even though they would have to register in advance at http://hike.in/hikeathon.

The event will start at 9 a.m. on December 19 and continue till December 22, 9 a.m.
