With an eye on reaching its revenue target of $5 billion by 2015, Tech Mahindra is trying to woo back its former employees in the mid-to-senior management levels.

Over the last six months, more than 100 persons who had quit Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Satyam have come back, C.P. Gurnani, Managing Director, told Business Line .

“All of them are bright and talented folks, who moved on because we could not satisfy their growth aspirations. We are now trying to correct this and bring them on board. The exposure of working in another company brings a lot of value to the table,” said Gurnani.

Said a senior company official: “Gurnani needs more leaders and hence he is keen to get those people back who can closely relate to the DNA of the organisation. I expect the sales organisation and the overall bandwidth to pursue deals to up significantly.’’

New initiative

Rajesh Chandiramani (who was Tech Mahindra’s India head till 2011 before taking a senior leadership role in Capgemini) is coming back as head of continental Europe. He confirmed the same through an update on his Facebook page.

Similarly, Harshul Asnani, who was Tech Mahindra’s head of US West, MidWest and Latin America has also rejoined.

Krishna Gopal, who was driving Tech Mahindra’ West Asia, Africa and South Asia business till 2011, is now associated with the company in the role of consultant. In fact, he is driving a new initiative termed ‘Achievers in the Making’, which seeks to convert internal technical staff into business development managers.

Big advantage

“The biggest advantage of converting technical people into sales officers is that they are able to last several meetings with CIO’s and CTO’s, unlike pure-play sales professionals, who would need backup after some top level interactions,” said Gopal.

Qualified company employees, with less than four years of experience, are eligible to apply for this programme.

Of the 350 staffers who have applied, the company has begun training around 30, said Gopal.
